Super Strike founder Don Musso has been creating lures for quite some time. Back in 1960, Don (a master carpenter by trade and fisherman by love) began hand carving wood and creating the lures we call Super Strike today. All of his designs start out as wooden prototypes; they are fished and redesigned until they are perfect in action and balance. Being a carpenter, Don knew that although wood is a good material for his lures; no two pieces of wood are the exactly the same and can vary greatly in density. This makes wooden lures inconsistent. Also, after a time, wooden lures absorb water. This throws off their buoyancy and action. Don decided that, using good production methods and quality control, plastic could make more consistent lures with better quality and action. With plastic, it is easier to be more consistent and exact if you take the time to try. He did, and today his creations are catching fish around the world.
